Porsche driver who hit pedestrian booked with DWI

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A 48-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was stuck by a vehicle in the Central Business District.

The incident happened Wednesday around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Loyola Avenue and Tulane Avenue.

Witnesses said that the woman had just exited a bus and was crossing Loyola when she was struck by a Porsche driven by a 35-year-old man. The driver was identified as Michael Clement, according to Nola.com | The Times-Picayune

“She went up in the air, through that windshield and when she went through the windshield, her wig came off and landed on the roadway,” a witness told FOX 8.

The victim was transported to the hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The driver of the Porsche was not injured in the crash. He was taken into custody for blood and alcohol tests.

Clement was booked into Orleans Parish Prison at 2 p.m. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicular negligent injury.
