Motorcyclist dead after fall from New Orleans East overpass

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A 34-year-old man is dead after a motorcyclist lost control in New Orleans East, police said.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. Wednesday on the Almonaster overpass near Jourdon Road.

Police said the motorcyclist was traveling westbound when he lost control and struck a guardrail. The unidentified Laplace man was ejected from the motorcycle, landing on the train tracks below, officers said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification.

Blood and alcohol tests are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
