NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The city unveiled its vision for Napoleon Avenue, once crews finish all of the work to upgrade the drainage system.
The Department of Public Works says the final configuration includes two traffic lanes in both directions, with each lane measuring 10-feet wide. Engineers also added one five-foot wide bicycle lane and one seven-foot wide parking lane in each direction.
The neutral ground's width will not change but as our partners at Nola.com|The Times-Picayune point out, the lanes were reduced to avoid shrinking the neutral ground to 38 feet. A paved walking path, complete with energy-efficient lighting, will also be added to the neutral ground.
The plan impacts Napoleon Avenue, between South Claiborne Ave and Constance Street. Engineers developed the new configuration, after spending the summer getting input from neighbors.
