New details have been released about the armed robbery at Atchafalaya restaurant last month.

According to the police report obtained by FOX 8, on Sept. 24, just after 10 p.m., armed men wearing hoodies, ski masks and gloves stormed into the popular Uptown restaurant and robbed staff and customers, including a UNO student, tourists, and a member of the military.

The report says the suspects were mad at the restaurant manager when he saw them coming and tried to lock the door. The armed men forced their way in, chased after the manager, then started cursing and even punched him in the face. They also robbed the bartender of the $500 he had in his wallet to pay his rent.

One of the victims said one of the suspects was wearing black, mechanic type gloves and he appeared to be experience and comfortable with guns as he held what appeared to be a 1911 style double action firearm that was silver or chrome in color with a black grip, in a ready to shoot position.

Friday at 1 p.m., city leaders will hold a meeting to talk about the recent brazen armed robberies of the New Orleans hot spots, including hold-ups at Patois in August, and Monkey Hill bar on Magazine Street earlier this week.

FOX 8 will have much more on this developing story throughout the day.
