NOPD: Armed robber takes elderly woman's purse in Treme

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans police are investigating the armed robbery of an elderly woman in the Treme neighborhood. The incident occurred Tuesday around 9:40 a.m. near the intersection of North Villere Street and Ursulines Avenue. 

Police say that the victim was walking near the intersection when the suspect walked up to her. The suspect pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim and demanded her property. The victim hesitated about giving her purse away, upsetting the suspect. 

The suspect knocked the victim to the ground, prior to, taking the purse and fleeing in an unknown type of black-colored car

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20's, who is around 5-foot-8. He has a medium to muscular build and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with blue sleeves and dark pants. He was armed with a black semi-automatic pistol.
