NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Police make their second arrest in a home invasion, nearly a year and a half after the crime. On Monday, October 5, 2015, members of the NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested 20 year old Jerel Forrest in connection with a home invasion that occurred on April 18, 2014 at a residence in the 2000 block of Broadway Street.

According to police, the 36-year-old male victim said around 3 p.m. on April 18, two unknown men with guns forced their way into his home. Once inside, the pair ransacked the house.

The victim told police that the pair was looking for drugs, and that he told them he didn't have drugs in the house or use drugs. The suspects then took the victims wallet and ran out of the house. One of the suspects dropped his iPhone as he was running away.

During the investigation, detectives learned that, 20-year-old Jonathan Williams the was the one who dropped the phone. Detectives were able use the phone to connect him to the home invasion. Police took Williams into custody in June 2015 and charged him with home invasion.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Forrest. He was booked with armed robbery.
