NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

As police investigated the recent armed robberies of Uptown restaurants and bars, they were led to the Hidden Lake Apartments in New Orleans East.

According to an arrest report obtained by FOX 8, the NOPD was conducting surveillance at the apartment complex last week when they observed a vehicle matching the description of a stolen vehicle occupied by three subjects in the parking lot.

The report goes on to say, ‘Detectives from the gang unit followed the vehicle to Morrison and then it fled.’

When the car came to a stop in the 7000 block of Arbor, 18-year-old John Guillory was arrested along with a juvenile for possession of a stolen car.

The car was towed to the FBI building for further investigation.

So far, neither Guillory nor the juvenile has been booked for any of the Uptown robberies, and police tell us, they are not suspects at this time.

Still, it could be considered the first major public development in the case.

“I’m glad that something’s being done, like they are after these guys for real,” says Maggie Myhand.

Myhand works at Monkey Hill Bar where three gunman stormed the place on September 28th, robbing the bar and patrons.

The raid at the New Orleans East apartment complex happened just two nights later.

The NOPD confirms, the FBI is assisting in the investigation.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite says there isn’t enough evidence to connect the armed robberies at Patois, Atchafalaya and Monkey Hill yet, but the similarities are striking.

Anyone arrested for all three robberies, he says, will be federally charged.

Meanwhile, a combined 30 thousand dollar Crimestoppers reward is generating tips.
