THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) -

Police say officers arrested an "extremely intoxicated" woman after she ran a stop sign, cutting off a police cruiser.

According to Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue, 28-year-old Lindsey Fruge was arrested for Violation of a Stop Sign, No Driver's License and her second DWI.

On Wednesday, Oct. 7, around 2:22 a.m., police say Fruge drove her 2012 Jeep Wrangler through a stop sign at the intersection of West 8th and Jackson Street without stopping. A TPD officer on patrol had to slam on their breaks to avoid crashing into Fruge's car.

Police say when the officer put on his lights Fruge put her vehicle in reverse and began to back up towards the police cruiser until the officer told her to stop.

Police say she performed poorly on her field sobriety test and had blood alcohol content of .228 percent, almost three times the legal limit.

Fruge was released from the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on $2,100 bond.
