KENNER, LA (WVUE) -

Kenner is the 10th most ethnically and racially diverse small city in the U.S., according to a new study conducted by WalletHub.com, a finance website targeted to consumers and small business owners.

WalletHub identified the most ethno-racially and linguistically diverse areas by comparing 313 of the most populated U.S. cities, according to our partners at New Orleans City Business.

The study evaluated three key metrics: racial and ethnic diversity, language diversity and U.S. region of birth diversity Kenner ranked No. 10 in the small city category, which was comprised of cities with a population under 100,000. The city ranked No. 27 overall.

No other Louisiana city made the top 10 in either the small, midsize or large city category.

There was also no other city in the New Orleans metro area that ranked within the top 200 cities overall.

Metairie ranked No. 214 overall and No. 93 among midsize cities. New Orleans ranked No. 246 overall and No. 55 among large cities.

WalletHub reported that ethnic change has been ongoing and is forecast to continue.

The U.S. Census Bureau projects that no single ethnic group will comprise the majority in the U.S. for the first time in 2044.
