GALLIANO, LA (WVUE) -

Another Louisiana oilfield service company feels the pinch of low oil prices.

Michigan-based CHI Aviation will lay off 74 workers as it shuts down its facility in Galliano.

The Louisiana Workforce Commission says it received notification from the company the closure is necessary because of "business circumstances" that will result in excess capacity in its offshore business.

CHI Aviation will lay off pilots, mechanics and support staff at the facility.

The firm provides helicopter transport services for the oil and gas industry.
