Couple accused of kidnapping Florida college student, driving her to Harvey

JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

Two people are in custody, accused of kidnapping a woman from Florida and bringing her to Jefferson Parish.

Our partners at NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune report that a 27-year-old woman was abducted from a college campus in Gainesville on Monday. JPSO deputies said one f the suspects, Curtis Williams, has a child with the victim.

Investigators said Williams and his current girlfriend, Shakayla Taylor, kidnapped the woman and drove her to Taylor’s apartment in Harvey.

The victim told deputies that Taylor encouraged Williams to kill her and that Williams had raped her during the trip.

Williams and Taylor each were with second-degree kidnapping. Williams was also booked with being a fugitive from a jurisdiction in Florida, where he will be booked with kidnapping and felony battery once extradited.

Both Taylor and Williams were still being held Wednesday at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna. Bond for Taylor was set at $300,000. Bond for Williams was set at $400,000 for the kidnapping charge. He was being held without bond on the fugitive charge.
