THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) - Two Thibodaux Police officers recover after getting hurt responding to a domestic call at a motel.
Police went to the motel early Monday morning in the 1100 block of St. Mary Street.
When they arrived, they say Willie Azema III tried to consume what they think is methamphetamine. Officers say he
began to violently resist when they tried to stop him.
They say at one point Azema bit one of the officers and kept trying to bite him in various parts of his body.
Officers say Takalia Robertson continuously interfered in an effort to prevent officers from arresting Azema.
Azema was eventually put in handcuffs, but he continued to resist. Police say they recovered suspected methamphetamine and suspected marijuana.
The two officers had to be treated for injuries at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. Azema did not require treatment.
Police arrested Azema for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, two counts of resisting an officer with force or violence, battery on a police officer and attempted obstruction of justice. He is being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $146,000 bond.
Officers arrested Robertson for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, interfering with a law enforcement investigation and domestic abuse battery.
