Man found shot to death in Chalmette

CHALMETTE, LA (WVUE) -

St. Bernard Sheriffs Office deputies responded Tuesday to a fatal shooting in Chalmette.

Sheriff James Pohlmann said a deputy who lived nearby heard the shots at about 7:20 p.m. and found the victim near Palmisano Boulevard and Missouri Street. Pohlmann said he doesn't believe the victim lives in the neighborhood and he couldn't confirm that the shooting could have been related to a carjacking.

The sheriff said it's still very early in the investigation and they're in the process of interviewing witnesses. He said the murder is unusual not only for the neighborhood, but for St. Bernard Parish.
