NOPD: Search for suspect in Uptown purse snatching incident

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department says it needs the public's help to find a man who attacked and robbed a woman in Uptown New Orleans.

The victim, a 31-year-old woman, told police the incident happened around 11:00 p.m. on October 28, 2015, as she was walking near the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Clara Street.

The victim says the man grabbed her from behind, physically assaulted her, grabbed her purse and then ran off. The suspect was last seen running east on Clara Street, toward Valence Street.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'7" to 5'8" tall, late 20s, having an average build, and facial hair.  He was last seen wearing dark clothing.
