Thibodaux man attempted to avoid arrest by defecating on himself

THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) -

A Thibodaux man hoped to avoid arrest Saturday by defecating on himself after assaulting a Thibodaux police officer.

Samuel Rodrigue, 44, of the 100 block of Cedar Street was arrested on two counts of resisting arrest after authorities responded to a report of a man having a seizure.

When police arrived, a neighbor told officers Rodrigue was not having a seizure, but was in fact intoxicated and had assaulted him by hitting him with a telephone.

Police were forced to restrain Rodrigue after he was violent with EMS responders already at the scene. He then assaulted one officer by repeatedly hitting him in the stomach.

EMS told police Rodrigue had an elevated heart rate and was behaving erratically. Medics said the behavior was likely the effects of synthetic marijuana.

When Rodrigue learned police were set to arrest him, the strained and defecated on himself in an effort to avoid arrest.

Rodrigue was taken to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center where he was treated for his elevated heart rate. He was issued a summons to appear in court on the resisting arrest charges.
