THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) - People in Thibodaux will begin to notice more mosquito spraying during the next two weeks.
Mayor Tommy Eschete instructed the city's mosquito control contractor to begin additional spraying Tuesday because of a recent abnormal increase in the local mosquito population.
The city says the supplemental spraying, over the next two weeks, is necessary because recent mild temperatures and heavy rain caused the mosquito population to grow.
Officials encourage people to check around their homes and empty containers that may hold water. They say the mosquito situation will be reevaluated in two weeks to determine if there is a need to continue supplemental spraying.
