LAFOURCHE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office says on Wednesday it arrested 20-year-old Rhett Thibodeaux. Earlier that morning, deputies say they got a call about a possible burglary at a Larose motel. Through the investigation, deputies learned that Thibodeaux, a convicted felon, forced his way into the motel office, damaging the door and sheet rock.
Investigators say Thibodeaux tried to disable the security cameras by removing a computer from the office and tossing it in a ditch behind the motel.He then stole a firearm from the office before leaving.
Deputies made contact with Thibodeaux, who allegedly admitted to his involvement in the burglary. Deputies also recovered the stolen gun. Thibodeaux was taken into custody and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. He was booked on charges of simple burglary, felony simple criminal damage of property, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
His bond was set at $75,500.
