Man shot outside his home in Terrebonne Parish

TERREBONNE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - A man was killed in his driveway during a shooting in Terrebonne Parish, according to Sheriff Jerry Larpenter.

Deputies arrived in the 100 block of Mozart Drive around 11 p.m. on Wednesday. They discovered Ernest Simms, 38, had been shot.

He had just returned home and backed into his driveway when a gunman approached his vehicle, according to the sheriff.

The perpetrator chased Simms and opened fire when he got out of his vehicle. Simms collapsed in a neighbors' yard, the sheriff said.

First responders arrived on the scene a short time later but could not revive the victim.
