THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) - The Thibodaux Chief of Police says a woman convicted of theft five times has been arrested again.
Janell Davis, 36, faces charges of felony theft of goods and failing to appear for trial on two counts of theft of goods charges.
On Nov. 10, Davis allegedly stole crayons and ink pens from a business in the 500 block of St. Mary Street after purchasing candy and chips. Davis was confronted by a store employee and fled the store. The employee followed her to the parking lot and demanded she return the stolen items. The clerk says Davis complied when she learned police were being called. Davis allegedly apologized and asked if she could leave because she gave the items back.
Police learned she's been convicted of theft five times in the last 10 years, making the theft of crayons and pens a felony. Police also learned that Davis had an active warrant for not showing up to trial for two counts of theft of goods.
Davis was arrested and is being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $15,000 bond.
