NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - It's beginning to look a little like Christmas at City Park. Preparations are underway for celebration in the oaks.
The natural beauty of City Park is undergoing a glorious wintry transformation, one light strand at a time.
They are just eight days away from the big reveal at the annual Celebration in the Oaks.
The workers are checking the plugs and putting the final touches on New Orleans' finest holiday light show and celebration.
"All over the park, all of our elves are out making the celebration happen," said John Hopper, Chief Development Officer of City Park.
The lighted displays so many have grown to love have distinct Louisiana flair. Like New Orleans favorite holiday son, Mr. Bingle, awaiting his big debut.
And even though the likelihood of a white Christmas here in New Orleans is slim to none, City Park has the next best thing, icicle lights.
It is just a few of the one million lights, ready to glow just in time, for thousands of visitors from points far and wide.
"Time for Turtles is a new installation, and in case you like reindeer, we have two, 15-foot, big old reindeer," Hopper said.
