Update: All lanes reopen on I-12 eastbound after multi-vehicle accident Covington

(WVUE) -

All lanes have reopened on I-12 eastbound after multi-vehicle accident Covington.

There are still heavy backups and delays on I-12 in both directions near 190 in Covington.

All lanes are closed. There are minor injuries.

Crescent City Connection commuters are encountering no problems this morning as they make their way across the bridge.

Some backups are developing on eastbound I-10 from Williams to Power.

All lanes open on the Huey P. Long.

I-10 west for eastern New Orleans commuters looks smooth.

The big traffic news for the weekend, of course, is the closure of westbound I-610 beginning Friday night at 7 p.m. the 4-1/2-mile stretch will reopen Monday morning.

Also looking ahead to the weekend, there will be intermittent lane closures on I-10 near Xavier University as Entergy is upgrading its transmission system.

The work will take place Saturday and Sunday and will cause intermittent short closures of both sides of I-10.
