LAROSE, LA (WVUE) -

Lafourche Parish authorities arrested a registered sex offender after a tense standoff on a boat in Larose.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office charged Daniel Boudreaux, 44, with aggravated burglary and aggravated assault.

Deputies were called to the 500 block of Industrial Park Boulevard around 9:30 a.m. on Friday to investigate a burglary on an offshore vessel docked in the Intracoastal Waterway.

Officers learned Boudreaux was aboard, allegedly armed with a shotgun he discovered while burglarizing the vessel. They believe he pointed the gun at the boat owner when he was discovered.

When deputies arrived, they began to negotiate with Boudreaux, but he refused to surrender and ran into the vessel's wheelhouse, according to deputies.

Boudreaux exited the wheelhouse around 11:30 a.m. and fired a single round from the shotgun into the air. Tactical teams were able to locate Boudreaux as he attempted to run away. They shot him in the arm with a rubber bullet. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital. Upon being discharged, deputies placed him under arrest. He was booked with aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His bond has not been set.

Boudreaux was convicted of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile in 1999.
