METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton denies reports defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has been fired.
Payton says the Saints have not met on any changes to staff.
"I'll say this, I've been made aware of speculation with regards to one of our coaches. I haven't met with Mickey Loomis or any of the coaches individually and we'll spend some time today and tomorrow with regards to any potential change, we would let you guys know, you'd be the first to hear about it. It's something we haven't even met on, I'll leave it at that," Payton said at a Monday morning press conference.
The Saints lost to the Redskins 47-14 on Sunday.
The team has given up 130 points in its last three games. The defense is on pace to finish last in passing defense.
But, as of now, Ryan is still part of the staff.
"I would always meet with Mickey and that would not be something that would be done without a lot of thought. We're talking about one coach, any type of change like that would be done with a lot of discussion," Payton said.
The Saints (4-6) play the Houston Texans (3-5) on Nov. 29.
