Tornado watch issued for parts of FOX 8 viewing area

A tornado watch is in effect for parts of the FOX 8 viewing area until 8 p.m.

The following Louisiana parishes are included:

  • Ascension
  • Assumption
  • East Baton Rouge
  • East Feliciana
  • Iberville
  • Lafourche
  • Livingston
  • Pointe Coupee
  • St. Charles
  • St. Helena
  • St. James
  • St. John the Baptist
  • Tangipahoa
  • Terrebonne
  • West Baton Rouge
  • West Feliciana

The following Mississippi counties also fall under the watch:

  • Amite
  • Pearl River
  • Pike
  • Walthall
  • Wilkinson

A flash flood watch will go into effect at 3 p.m.

A powerful upper disturbance over the four corners will lift out into the central plains Tuesday.

A squall line is likely to form ahead of a slow moving cold front that won't reach us until Wednesday morning.

A flood watch has been issued for Tuesday into Wednesday for the possibility of 2-4" or more of rain that could cause flooding. Some of the storms could turn severe.

Cooler and drier air filters in for Thursday and Friday with even colder air coming for this weekend.

    A deadly virus is threatening the crawfish industry in Southwest Louisiana. It's called white spot syndrome virus and it was first discovered in Thailand, but somehow it made its way to ponds in South Louisiana and specialists are struggling to find the funds to research a solution.  “The catch was increasing and increasing and then it dropped 70% and that's when you saw the dead crawfish floating in the water,” said a crawfish farmer of 34 years, Ian Garbarino.
