LAFOURCHE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - State troopers say a Florida man traveling the wrong way on a Lafourche highway died when he struck another vehicle head-on, seriously injuring another driver.
Investigators say it happened Tuesday morning as Ronald Peltier, 72, drove a 1995 Dodge Dakota going south in the northbound lanes of LA 3087.
Troopers say he hit a 2003 Honda Pilot driven by Nam Nguyen, 25, of Houma. Nguyen was taken by helicopter to University Medical Center in New Orleans with serious injuries.
Peltier was pronounced dead on the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner's Office.
Investigators do not believe impairment played a role in the crash. However, routine toxicology tests are pending for Peltier.
