NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A judge sentenced three gang members Tuesday for their role in the Central City murders of a five-year-old girl and 33-year-old mother of three.

Tyron "T-7" Harden, 21 and Demond "Lil D" Sandifer, 19, each received two life sentences for killing Briana Allen and Shawanna Pierce. Sam "Lil" Newman, 19, was sentenced to three life sentences. Allen and Pierce were hit by stray bullets as the three men shot at a rival gang.

Allen was murdered why she was standing on the porch of her mother's home in the 1200 block of Simon Bolivar Avenue. Pierce was in a car when she was shot in the head two blocks away.

A jury found the three defendants guilty during a trial in January.

The sentences against the members of the 110ERS gang were the result of three and a half years work by the New Orleans Police Department gang task force. Mayor Mitch Landrieu said that work has effectively put an end to that gang.
