Metairie SWAT roll ends; man found deceased

METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - A SWAT team was activated and dispatched to Metairie Wednesday night after a woman called police about alarming text messages. After four hours of trying to communicate with the subject, he was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

The initial JPSO news release said the woman's ex-boyfriend texted her threatening to harm himself, and then barricaded himself inside a residence the 2300 block of Edenborn Avenue.

At 11:47 p.m., JPSO sent the following to media outlets:

"After nearly 4 hours of attempting to open a line of communications with the suspect who barricaded himself inside of his apartment, the decision was made to deploy our EOD Robot to assist.  The Robot successfully breached the front door of the apartment and upon traveling inside, discovered the body of a W/M..."
