A traffic stop resulted in the arrests of two men on drug charges after police discovered nearly $18,000 in ecstasy and other drugs.
According to the report, police arrested 18-year-old Ryan Reech of Port Allen and 21-year-old Dustin Mantia of Port St. Lucie, FL.
On Wednesday, Nov. 11, police stopped a white Toyota Camry around 9:02 p.m. for a stop sign violation at Bowie Road and Ardoyne Drive in Thibodaux.
A brief chat with the driver, Reech, and the passenger, Mantia, prompted the officer to conduct a K9 outer air sniff around the vehicle.
After a positive alert on the vehicle, police conducted further investigation and recovered hydrocodone, Vyvanse as well as an assortment of amphetamines, ecstasy, marijuana, cash and safe and smarties candies believed to be laced with LSD that will be tested at the State Police Crime lab.
Police arrested Reech on charges of possession of Vyvanse, possession of marijuana and violation of a stop sign. Mantia was arrested on a slew of drug charges including intent to distribute Vyvanse, hydrocodone, amphetamines and ecstasy.
Both were released from Lafourche Parish Detention Center after posting bond over the weekend: Reech on a $2,850 bond and Mantia on a $22,500 bond.
An additional investigation into the safe lead to the discovery of 900 pills of suspected ecstasy, connected to Mantia. Police were able to connect the safe to Mantia and obtain additional warrants for his arrest.
Additional charges included possession with intent to distribute ecstasy and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was arrested again Nov. 17 and released later that day after posting a $52,500 bond.
