La. ranks 7th in the world for rate of incarcerated women

Louisiana ranks 7th in a measure of the rate of incarcerated women in the world.

Prison Policy researchers studied incarceration rates across the globe. They found 198 out of every 100,000 women in the state are locked-up.

Thailand, which ranks 26th, is the first jurisdiction outside the U.S. to make a showing on Prison Policy's list.

West Virginia takes the top spot.
