NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans police arrested a 19-year-old man accused of carjacking a woman in Algiers on Nov. 18.

Ronnie Simmons was booked with carjacking and aggravated assault with a firearm.

Investigators said at around 6:50 p.m., the victim parked her vehicle near the intersection of Cypress Acres Drive and Pinewood Court and left it running. The victim returned to her vehicle moments later and found Simmons in her car, according to police. They said he pulled a gun and ordered the victim to step back. The victim complied and Simmons drove away.

Officers immediately started tracking the vehicle in the area of Gordon and North Rampart Streets. After leading officers on a brief chase, Simmons was arrested and booked into Central Lockup.
