Second McDonald's robbed in New Orleans this week

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A second McDonald's restaurant was robbed in New Orleans this week.

According to a preliminary report from NOPD, an unknown black male shot the glass out of the front door to the McDonald's at 3025 Elysian Fields Ave. around 4:30 a.m. on Nov. 22.

The unknown gunman then entered the business and went to the back room where he took a money bag. He then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

This is the second armed robbery of a McDonald's in the New Orleans area this week.

On Nov. 19, just after 4 a.m., an armed suspect wearing a ski mask shot out the glass door of the McDonald's on N. I-10 Service Road in New Orleans East. Once inside, the unknown gunman ordered the store manager to open the safe according to NOPD. The manager complied and handed the suspect an undetermined amount of cash.

The suspect then fled on foot. Police say no one was injured during the robbery.

Surveillance video of the first McDonald's robbery has been released by NOPD in hopes that someone can identify the robbery despite their ski mask. The video can be viewed here, here and here.

No connection has been made between the two robberies.
