NOPD officer injured in Metairie crash

METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) -

An NOPD officer is in the hospital after his car struck a pole in Metairie.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, witnesses saw a white four-door Kia SUV driving in the 2800 block of Richland Avenue around 12:35 p.m. when it suddenly went off road and struck a pole. When officers arrived on scene, they found the car overturned on the side of the road with Sergeant Mike Marziale semi-conscious behind the wheel.

Marziale was taken to the University Medical Center for treatment. No word was given on his condition.
