BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) - Former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards is heading home from the hospital.
Edwards' wife, Trina, confirmed in a Facebook post that the 88-year-old former governor was heading home after being admitted on Wednesday for treatment of pneumonia.
"Edwin is up and around and feeling much better thanks to the doctors, nurses, and rest of the hospital staff. He received excellent treatment and everyone was so kind and helpful, but we're happy to be headed home. Thank you all for the prayers, messages, and phone calls. We're very blessed to be supported by such an amazing group of family and friends and we love you all," wrote Trina Edwards of Facebook.
Edwards, a Democrat, served as governor from 1972 to 1980 and again from 1984 to 1996.
