NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A police standoff in New Orleans East ended peacefully.
Lashawn Dillon, 34, surrendered to police after around 5:30 p.m. after a lengthy standoff with police and a SWAT unit, according to NOPD.
The standoff began around noon on Nov. 27 in the 7200 block of Chef Menteur Highway when Dillon allegedly fired a gun from inside his home, shooting his 63-year-old neighbor in the back.
Dillon barricaded himself inside his apartment when police arrived on the scene.
NOPD officials said Dillon may be mentally ill.
The 63-year-old man shot in the back was taken to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition.
