(WVUE) - A legislative audit released Monday says more than $15 million in new hospital equipment purchased for the University Medical Center was never tagged or recorded for the state's property management system.
The failure to record the equipment in the state's system means there is no record of the current worth of the equipment, or where it might be currently located.
Another $1 million in state-owned hospital equipment used by the Louisiana Children's Medical Center at the hospitals temporary location cannot be located.
The Health Care Services Division is the state agency charged with making sure private partners tag, inventory and keep track of what happens to state property they use and have in their possession.
