Two men injured following shooting in Hammond

HAMMOND, LA (WVUE) - Hammond police are investigating a shooting that left two men injured. The incident occurred Thursday, just after midnight on in the 500 block of Washington Avenue.

According to police, a silver-colored Chevrolet Impala with an unknown temporary tag stopped in front of a home on Washington Avenue. The front passenger, who was wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun equipped with a red laser, got out of the car and attempted to rob the men. As the two men emptied their pockets, the gunman began shooting at them. One of the men was shot in the leg, while the other was shot in the leg and shoulder. The victims' ages are 35 and 50, police say.

The gunman was described as a tall, skinny black man. The driver of the car was described as a black man with a light complexion who was also wearing a ski mask.

After the shooting, the two suspects fled northbound on Washington Avenue, traveling towards West Coleman Avenue.
