Krewe of Freret announces royalty for Mardi Gras 2016

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Krewe of Freret today announced their selection of King and Queen for 2016 Carnival.

King Bivian "Sonny" Lee III and Queen Ana Ochoa will reign over Freret's ride down St. Charles Avenue on January 30th, 2016.

The Krewe of Freret will host their coronation ball on January 16, 2016 at The New Orleans Jazz Market. All proceeds from ticket sales for this event will benefit Son of a Saint, a local mentorship program that has been enhancing the lives of fatherless boys since 2011.

The annual public coronation ceremony will be held on the neutral ground of Elysian Fields Avenue at Royal Street, immediately preceding Krewe du Vieux on January 23rd, 2015.

The king and queen were based upon who they believe has made a significant contribution to the Krewe.

The king, Bivian Lee, is the founder and president of the Son of a Texan and Son of a Saint organizations, which help fatherless young men.

The queen, Anastacia Gloria Ochoa, is currently an attorney in Bexar County, Texas.
