KENNER, LA (WVUE) -

A 14-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday for bringing a pellet gun to Roosevelt Middle School and shooting two female students, according to the Kenner Police Department.

A spokesman for the Kenner Police Department says the student was arrested after it was learned he brought an Airsoft gun to school in his book bag. The boy shot a 12-year-old female student in the leg with a pellet, and a second 12-year-old student in the stomach. Both girls refused medical treatment.

The juvenile was transported to the Jefferson Parish Juvenile Assessment Center where he remains in custody pending a continued custody hearing in Juvenile Court.

School officials have suspended the student from the school. The student was not identified because he is a juvenile.

The student was charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds and two counts of battery.
