A Bogalusa man will spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted for distribution of oxycodone.

Warren Montgomery, the District Attorney for Washington and St. Tammany Parishes said 58-year-old James Spikes was arrested during a 2013 undercover drug operation. A jury in Washington Parish found him guilty on August 25, 2015.

Spikes has 17 prior felony convictions, plus a first-degree murder charge pending against him, so prosecutors used Louisiana’s multiple offender law to ask for life imprisonment for Spikes.
