NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Tulane School of Medicine professor Robert Garry says he's honored to be named one of Foreign Policy magazine's "100 global thinkers of 2015."

Garry, a professor of microbiology and immunology, helped develop a 15-minute test for Ebola.

Using this test, public health workers can isolate and treat patients immediately, instead of waiting days for lab results.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the test for emergency use earlier this year.
