HOUMA, LA (WVUE) -

Terrebonne Parish detectives are continuing their investigation into the murder of  Pamela Johnson, 56, of the 4000 block of Country Drive in Bourg.

Tuesday morning, patrolmen and detectives went to the house around 8:30 a.m. after receiving information that a woman was dead.

There they found Johnson dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

Johnson was raising her two God children, who lost their parents to a murder-suicide a few years ago. The girls' uncle said his brother shot and killed the girls' mother before turning the gun on himself.

Just prior to finding Johnson’s body on Tuesday, two girls approached a woman n Wade Street in Houma around 8:30 a.m. They told her that their aunt had been shot inside their residence in Bourg.

The girls were found near an abandoned vehicle that was registered to the girls’ aunt, Pamela Johnson.

The woman contacted police to report finding the two girls. Detectives arrived on Wade Street and after talking with Houma Police Department dispatchers, they subsequently located the body of Pamela Johnson inside of her home.

The girls, seven and 10, were unharmed. They reported being kidnapped by an unknown black male from their residence in Bourg, after the suspect shot their aunt Monday night.

The girls were apparently left in the vehicle alone on Wade Street overnight.
