NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Jefferson Parish District Attorney's Office charged a man after a passenger jumped out of his vehicle in Interstate 10 in Metairie to her death.
Prosecutors charged Adam Littleton, 24, with manslaughter Wednesday, according to Nola.com | The Times-Picayune.
Detectives allege Littleton kidnapped Jasilas Wright, 19, after a heated argument earlier this year. He was taking her to Dallas, where the two first met.
Officers said that Littleton told family and friends that while they were driving on the interstate, Wright demanded to be let out of the car, but Littleton would not stop.
Wright opened the door and jumped onto the roadway, according to authorities. Littleton did not stop to help Wright, instead continuing to drive to Dallas.
Police found the victim's body on June 10.
Littleton later turned himself in to police in Shreveport. Police originally issued an arrest warrant for the suspect on one count of second-degree murder.
Littleton faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison if convicted of manslaughter.
