NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Tulane President Michael A. Fitts announced Wednesday that Troy Dannen has been hired as the school's new athletic director. He will replace Rick Dickson who is set to retire in May.
The 48-year-old spent the last eight years as A.D. at his alma mater, University of Northern Iowa and was named FCS Athletic Director of the Year in 2014.
Fitts said Dannen was the unanimous choice of the search committee. "Troy has demonstrated outstanding leadership and success in every job, at every level. His dedication to his student-athletes and his goal to win championships in every sport are testament to his enthusiasm and his dedication to his profession," Fitts said.
In a release sent out by the school, Dannen is quoting as saying that the school's commitment to success was a main reason for his interest, adding, "The people I met at Tulane are phenomenal and they have built a terrific infrastructure; now it is time to win!"
Dannen will be introduced by Tulane at a press conference Friday.
