Houma authorities search for woman connected to heroin overdose death

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - Investigators for the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's office are looking for a woman they believe was involved in a heroin overdose that led to the death of a 35-year-old woman.

Authorities are searching for Shantelle White, 27, of Houma. They believe White was connected to the death of Christy Hurst, who was found dead Thursday morning in a room at the Economy Inn in Houma.

Hurst was pronounced dead on scene of an apparent heroin overdose.

An arrest warrant has been issued for the arrest of White for one count of second-degree murder.

White is described as a white female, she is 5-feet-two-inches tall, weighing 120 pounds. She has brown/blond hair.

Detectives are stilling investigating the death of Terry Braud Jr., 28, of 145 Al Joseph Lane in Schriever. Braud died that also occurred Thursday night. Investigators believe that he also died of a heroin overdose.

Two more individuals, both from east Houma, were treated at local hospitals this past weekend for what authorities believe are also heroin overdoses. Both people were treated and released.

Detectives and TPSO narcotics agents are collectively working all overdose cases and will provide additional information as soon as possible.
