JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal Monday night shooting in which the victim was shot in Harvey and died in Gretna.
Police said the victim, identified only as a black male, 17, was shot just after 7:30 p.m. on Tallowtree Lane. He then ran to the east side of the Harvey Canal and collapsed on the steps of a home in the 1200 block of 21st Street.
Crime Scene technicians recovered several spent shell casings on the canal bank that separates Harvey and Gretna, according to JPSO spokesman Col. John Fortunato.
