NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The man accused of shooting a Tulane medical school student who was trying to help an alleged robbery victim is now accused of carjacking, kidnapping and raping a couple less than 24 hours later.
A man and woman were getting into a parked car in the early morning hours of Nov. 21 near St. Philip and Henriette Delille streets in Treme when an armed man, identified as Euric Cain, 21, got into the back seat of their car and demanded money and credit cards.
Cain ordered the woman to drive the car to an abandoned school near Abundance and Press streets in the Desire neighborhood, the report said.
The suspect ordered the couple to get into the back seat of the car. Police say Cain raped the woman orally, vaginally and with his fingers. The report said Cain also forced the man to perform oral sex on him at gunpoint.
When he was done, Cain told the victims to get out of the car and threatened to kill them if they called police. Cain drove away in their car, according to the report. The couple called police from a nearby store.
New Orleans police booked Cain Wednesday with two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of second-degree kidnapping, two counts of armed robbery and two counts of carjacking in connection with the incident.
His bond is set at $1 million in that case.
"The actions that we've seen, the actions that you've seen, show that he deserves to be in prison, and we're working very hard to tie up the loose ends to present a very good case to the district attorney to prosecute him for both of those cases," New Orleans Police Superintendent Michael Harrison said.
Cain is in Orleans Parish Prison on a $6 million dollar bond for shooting Peter Gold, 25, after he witnessed an attempted armed robbery, and possible abduction, in the Lower garden District on Nov. 20.
Gold is out of the hospital, recovering from a gunshot wound to the stomach.
Cain pleaded not guilty to the shooting. However, surveillance images show a person, who police believe is Cain, shoot Gold in the stomach. The person also tried to shoot Gold in the head, but his gun jammed.
Cain was connected to the carjacking and rape when police learned he had been driving the black Ford Focus stolen from the couple. He also used the couple's credit card, according to the report.
Cain is charged with attempted first-degree murder in the Gold case. His girlfriend, Nictoria Washington, 17, was also indicted for being an accessory after the fact to attempted first-degree murder.
Cain faces mandatory life sentences if convicted on the charges.
