NOPD books man in connection with Canal Street murder

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting at South Rampart and Canal Street.

Daris England, 19, turned himself in to the NOPD Tuesday afternoon but declined to give a statement in the shooting of Richard Dowell, 19, on November 30.

Dowell was found lying on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

England became a suspect as the investigation progressed. He was booked with second-degree murder.
