HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - A Houma man was arrested Wednesday after leading police on a brief chase.
Dustin Faciane, 26, faces charges of speeding, aggravated flight, driving without a license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The incident began just after 6:30 p.m. when Houma Police looking for speeders on New Orleans Boulevard clocked a white Jeep Cherokee traveling 40 mph in a 30 mph zone. Police tried to stop the Jeep, but it continued on New Orleans Boulevard toward Gum Street, where the driver traveled against traffic and ran several stop signs, police said.
Shortly afterward, the driver pulled into a driveway in the 400 block of Pecan Street and was taken into custody.
Police said a search of the Jeep turned up paraphernalia used for smoking methamphetamine, and when Faciane's name was checked, officers learned he had outstanding warrants through the 32nd Judicial District Court for failure to appear, parole violation, two counts of possession of stolen things and theft of a motor vehicle.
Faciane was booked into the Lafourche Parish Jail. There was no immediate word on bond.
