Kenner teen accused of attempted carjacking, kidnapping

KENNER, LA (WVUE) -

A Kenner teen was arrested Sunday in connection with an attempted carjacking and attempted kidnapping.

Lenin-Fransico Alvarado-Lopez, 17, of Mayfair Lane, is accused of jumping into the backseat of a car occupied by two women at the Walmart on West Esplanade Avenue. Police said Alvarado-Lopez was armed with a knife and demanded that they drive.

Instead, both women got out of the car and screamed for help, and Alvarado-Lopez fled on foot. Witnesses followed Alvarado-Lopez to the 600 block of Mayfair Lane, where he was caught and arrested.

Alvarado-Lopez was still in custody at the time of publication, and no bond hd been set.
