NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Local residents will soon get to take advantage of extended hours at the New Orleans Public Library, in effect Jan. 3, 2016. The library, along with The New Orleans Public Library Foundation say it was made possible by the passage of the 25-year, 2.5 mill increase.

"Due to the community's overwhelming support of increasing the New Orleans Public Library's funding, we are pleased to be able to expand our service hours beginning in 2016," said Executive Director of the NOPL Charles Brown. "We are focused on continuing and now increasing our role as an important and valuable education, entertainment and recreation resource for all."
